North Sea Banff floater back in service

The Banff/Kyle FPSO in the UK central North Sea returned to production in late July, according to Canadian Natural Resources (CNR).

CALGARY, Canada – The Banff/Kyle FPSO in the UK central North Sea returned to production in late July, according to Canadian Natural Resources (CNR).

Operations had been suspended since 2011, when the offshore infrastructuresuffered storm-related damage. The wells are being reinstated in a controlled manner.

InSouth Africa, the company is a 50/50 partner with Total in an exploration right located in the Outeniqua basin, 175 km (109 mi) offshore the southern coast. Drilling of the first exploratory well started on July 21. The program could last 120 days.

CNR is carried on the first $150 million gross costs.
