C-NLOPB confirms Cambriol oil find offshore Newfoundland as a significant discovery

ST JOHN’s, Canada — The Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board (C-NLOPB) has updated its estimate of producible oil from Equinor’s Cambriol G-92 discovery in the Flemish Pass Basin.

Following interpretation of well and seismic data, C-NLOPB now estimates 340 MMbbl recoverable, and it has confirmed the award of Significant Discovery Licence 1060 to Equinor.

The company announced the discovery of both Cambriol and Cappahayden in late 2020, but it did not provide an assessment of the volumes. Both were drilled by the semisub Transocean Barents, in 600-1,000 m water depth, west of the potential Bay du Nord development.
