C-NLOPB approves further development of Hebron Field offshore Newfoundland

Exxon Mobil has secured approval from the C-NLOPB for an amended development plan for the producing Hebron Field offshore Canada.

ST. JOHN’S, Canada — Exxon Mobil has secured approval from the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board (C-NLOPB) for an amended development plan for the producing Hebron Field offshore eastern Canada.

The decision, also ratified by the federal and Newfoundland and Labrador governments, gives Exxon Mobil the go-ahead to develop sands within the Jeanne d’Arc Formation that were not covered under the field’s original development plan.

In their review of the application, C-NLOPB personnel undertook a reassessment of the most likely recoverable oil and contingent gas estimates for the Jeanne d’Arc Formation.

Results are as follows:

Proven and Probable (2P)

  • 2012: 132 MMbbl
  • 2023: 165 MMbbl

They also reassessed the EUR and contingent gas estimates for Pool 1 and the Hibernia Formation, based on findings from drilling in these locations.
