PSA approves interventions on two Equinor fields

OSLO, Norway – Equinor can use the Island Wellserver and Island Frontier for well intervention activities on the Trestakk and Utgard fields in the Norwegian Sea and North Sea, following approval from Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority.

The consent applies until end-March 2020.

Aker BP has authorization to drill exploration well 6608/6-1 on the Vågar prospect in license 762 in the Norwegian Sea, 100 km (62 mi) northeast of the Skarv field and 170 km (106 mi) southwest of Røstøyan.

Water depth at the location is 288 m (945 ft). The semisub Deepsea Stavanger should start drilling later in the current quarter, with operations set to last 27 days.

In addition, the PSA has authorized Aker BP to drill exploration well 2/1-17 in North Sea license 019 on the Kark prospect in 66 m (216 ft) water depth, 276 km (171 mi) southwest of Stavanger.

The jackup Maersk Interceptor is expected to begin the 40-day campaign in mid-August.
