STAVANGER, NorwayOdfjell Drilling has awarded Apply a study contract for Equinor’s Mariner field development in the UK’s East Shetland basin.

It concerns an upgrade of the circulation and material handling system for the intervention and completion unit on the newly installed Mariner A platform.

The ICU has been designed to perform various functions handled by a drilling rig including running production tubing, maintaining downhole pumps, and wireline activities.

Equinor requested the study in order to deliver certain improvements. Apply is working with Odfjell on the conceptual engineering.

The study was initiated in mid-May and the document package should be completed by early October. More than 20 Apply engineers are involved.
