Corinth to provide Kobra East and Gekko steel pipes

Subsea 7 has contracted Corinth Pipeworks to manufacture high frequency welding steel pipes for Aker BP’s Kobra East and Gekko project in the Norwegian North Sea.

ATHENS, Greece – Subsea 7 has contracted Corinth Pipeworks to manufacture and supply high frequency welding (HFW) steel pipes for Aker BP’s Kobra East and Gekko (KEG) project in the Norwegian North Sea.

 The company will manufacture and coat 9 km (6 mi) of 16-in. HFW pipes in ultra-long lengths at its facility in Thisvi, Greece. The pipes will be delivered directly to Subsea 7’s spoolbase in Vigra, Norway, for fabrication and subsequent reel-lay installation. 

The KEG field development involves an 8-km (5-mi) subsea tieback to the Alvheim FPSO.
