ATHENS, Greece Subsea 7 has contracted Corinth Pipeworks to supply steel pipes for Murphy Exploration & Production Co.– USA’s King’s Quay project in the deepwater US Gulf of Mexico.

The company will manufacture about 30 km (19 mi) of 16-in. HFW linepipe to be used for the subsea export pipeline which will transport gas from the King’s Quay FPS to an existing pipeline system in the Green Canyon area in a water depth of about 1,250 m (4,101 ft).

According to Corinth, this is one of the deepest ever reel-lay, subsea projects to use HFW linepipe for a flowline application.

The HFW pipes will be manufactured and coated in ultra-long lengths at the company’s facility in Greece and delivered directly to Subsea 7’s spoolbase in Ingleside, Texas, for fabrication and subsequent reel-lay installation.
