Eni has provided an update on three offshore field developments in the Libyan sector of the Mediterranean Sea.

CEO Claudio Descalzi held talks May 5 with Abdul Hamid Mohammed Dbeibeh, Prime Minister of the Libyan Government of National Unity, to review progress.

Work on the Sabratha Compression project is due to be completed by the end of the year. This will support sustained production from the offshore Bahr Essalam Field.

Eni expects to start up the Bouri Field gas utilization project in 2026. Finally, drilling has started on the wells for the Bahr Essalam Structures A&E oil and gas field development in offshore Area D, Block NC 141.

Descalzi also discussed Eni’s exploration activities and potential opportunities from Libya’s first international exploration and development bid round since 2017, which opened on March 3. It includes 11 offshore areas.

Eni’s operations are run through the joint company Mellitah Oil and Gas (Eni 50%, Libyan National Oil Corp. 50%).
