Sonangol and partners revise drilling sequence for Impala-2, Pacassa SW offshore Angola

The Sonangol-led Block 3/05 partnership has reordered its drilling campaign offshore Angola, with the Borr Grid jackup set to drill the Impala-2 development well before returning to complete a sidetrack of the Pacassa SW discovery, both targeting first oil in 2027.

Why this news matters:

  • The revised drilling sequence is designed to accelerate development activities and optimize use of the Borr Grid jackup rig.

  • Impala-2 is expected to deliver about 4,000 b/d of initial production when first oil begins in January 2027.

  • Ongoing remapping of the Pacassa SW discovery could support up to 70 MMbbl of additional oil resources in Block 3/05.
