Drilling is underway on the fifth of 35 planned infill wells for phases 15 and 16 of the South Pars gas field in the Persian Gulf.
Pars Oil and Gas Co. (POGC) commissioned the DCI-2 rig for the campaign. The current well is part of a second infill drilling package designed to raise production from the SPD 15 platform.
The first well package was brought onstream late last year.
Three further wells are currently being drilled under separate work packages on the SPD1, SPD19A and SPD19B platforms by POGC and other contractors, with production from the wells set to start in the next few weeks.
