The Norwegian Ocean Industry Authority (Havtil) is investigating an incident that took place last Friday onboard Saipem’s semisub Scarabeo 8.
One person was injured following completion of a drilling task, related to equipment handling during retrieval of a riser.
The individual’s legs were reportedly trapped between items of equipment installed on the drill floor (riser spider and catwalk), and had to be taken onshore in an SAR helicopter for medical treatment.
Scarabeo 8 was under contract to Aker BP. Havtil has appointed a specialist team to investigate.
