Cobalt lines up next presalt wildcat offshore Angola

Cobalt International Energy (NYSE: CIE) says the temporarily abandoned Cameia #2 wellbore in block 21 offshore Angola will be reused as part of the Cameia Mound development project.

HOUSTON – Cobalt International Energy (NYSE: CIE) says the temporarily abandoned Cameia #2 wellbore in block 21 offshore Angola will be reused as part of the Cameia Mound development project. This is expected to receive sanction in early 2014.

Following this operation Diamond Offshore’sOcean Confidence was due to start drilling the Mavinga #1 presalt exploratory north of the Cameia discovery.

Cobalt also expects to spud the presalt Lontra #1 exploratory well in Angola bock 20 before mid-year, using the PetroservCatarina rig.

Offshore Gabon, the company is participating in theDiaman #1 well on the Diaba block, which was spudded recently by the Ocean Rig Olympia. Total Gabon is the operator. This is Gabon’s first deepwater presalt well.
