TAQA, Cairn, Carnarvon contract Valaris jackups

The Valaris JU-123 will drill for TAQA offshore the Netherlands and Cairn Energy in the UK North Sea.

HAMILTON, Bermuda – TAQA has contracted the harsh environment jackup Valaris JU-123 to drill offshore the Netherlands.

The contract is expected to start in 4Q 2021. The estimated minimum duration is 60 days. The contract is to prepare a wellbore for the Porthos CO2 transport and storage project.

In conjunction with this contract, the Valaris JU-123 will be upgraded with a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system. When in operation, the SCR system will eliminate almost all NOx and SOx emissions from the rig, Valaris said.

Cairn Energy has awarded the Valaris JU-123 a one-well contract in the UK North Sea. The contract is expected to start in 2Q 2022. The estimated duration is 72 days.

Also, Carnarvon Petroleum has awarded the jackup Valaris JU-107 a one-well contract Timor-Leste. The contract is expected to commence in 4Q 2021. The estimated duration is 30 days.
