CONSTANTA, RomaniaGSP Offshore expects drilling to start during 4Q on the Lukoil Overseas Atash-operated Trident field in the deepwater sector of the Romanian Black Sea.

Lukoil has an 87.8% share of the concession rights, in partnership with Romanian gas producer Romgaz.

Trident is thought to contain 30 bcm and could be the country’s second largest gas accumulation.

GSP is the main contractor, responsible for management of the drilling campaign and well-related services, including logistics and aviation.

The Saipem semisubmersible Scarabeo 9 will drill the Trinity-1X well. The rig was selected due to its proven ability to lower its tower in order to pass through the Bosphorus Strait.
