ABERDEEN, UK -- Tendeka has completed installation of an optical reservoir monitoring system in a platform well offshore West Africa.
The monitoring solution, ordered by an unnamed major operator, comprised a Sentinel distributed temperature sensing (DTS) system and four SmartCell optical pressure and temperature gauges.
According to Tendeka, the gauges, when integrated with the DTS, provide a comprehensive real-time pressure and temperature profile of the reservoir, allowing the operator to optimize well performance.
The pressure gauges also facilitate more accurate interpretation of the inflow profile and analysis of phase contributions along the horizontal interval. Data is available continuously in real-time, thereby enhancing understanding of flow contribution and swift detection of water breakthrough.
The 900-m (2,953-ft) horizontal open hole was completed using 6 5/8-in. sand screens with external swell packers for zonal isolation of the three reservoir sections. The upper completion conveys the monitoring system on a 2 3/8-in. stinger inside the sand screens, which is suspended from an electric submersible pump system and a high set production packer.
Tendeka adds that the DTS provides monitoring across the whole reservoir section while each of the three zones has a single point pressure gauge. A fourth pressure gauge has been placed above the reservoir to provide co-mingled pressure and temperature data.
