Chevron contracts $510-million platform for Angola

SEOUL, South Korea – Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co., Ltd (DSME) reports receipt of a $510-million contract from Chevron to build an offshore production platform to be installed in Angolan waters. The turnkey platform is scheduled for delivery by 4Q 2013.

The 18,758-ton, 62.5 m x 35 m (205 ft x 115 ft) platform will be designed to boost processing capacity of the existing facility in block 0 of the Cabinda region. That platform produces 100,000 b/d of oil and 4 MMcf/d of natural gas.

The new platform is to be constructed at DSME’s Okpo, Geoje Island, Korea, facility.
