IRVINE, California -- Operation Technology's ETAP Real-Time has been implemented as the power management system for the FPSO RAROA.
The conversion of the FPSO began in 2006 in Jurong Shipyard Singapore and oil was first extracted on Feb. 25, 2009, from the Maari field off the coast of New Zealand. With an oil production capacity of 40,000 b/d and storage capacity of about 660,000 bbl, the FPSO uses ETAP Real-Time power management system to meet and exceed the production KPIs through rough seas and tropical cyclones by operating for 15 years without dry docking.
ETAP Real-Time has capabilities including system modeling and analysis, power monitoring, controlled generator overload shedding, fast load preservation, comprehensive system automation, and simulation.
ETAP Intelligent Load Shedding (ILS) is deployed on the FPSORAROA to provide fast-load preservation based on actual operating condition of the system, including generation operating status, steam availability, system stability, and load operating conditions, and status. ILS dynamically determines the best load shedding priority, the company says.
