OSLO, Norway – Aker BP has permission from Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) for two exploratory wells in the North Sea.
Odfjell Drilling’s semisubmersible Deepsea Stavanger will drill both wells.
One will be on the JK prospect (well 25/11-29 S) in block 25/11, license 916. The location is in 122 m (400 ft) of water, north of the Johan Sverdrup field and south of Grane. Operations should take 16 days to complete.
The other well (15/6-15), due to start drilling later this month, will be on the Freke-Garm prospect in PL 814, southeast of the Gudrun field and northwest of Gina Krog, in a water depth of 109 m (357 ft). In this case, drilling should last 28 days.
Separately, the PSA has approved use of the jackup Maersk Intrepid as living quarters for Equinor’s Martin Linge field development in the North Sea. The consent runs from June 30 to Dec. 31.
