Aker BP to drill in North Sea Ivar Aasen area

Aker BP has secured approval from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate to drill an exploratory well 15 km (9.3 mi) northeast of the Ivar Aasen field in the central Norwegian North Sea.

OSLO, NorwayAker BP has secured approval from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate to drill an exploratory well 15 km (9.3 mi) northeast of the Ivar Aasen field in the central Norwegian North Sea.

The semisubmersibleDeepsea Stavanger will drill well 25/11-29 S in PL 916 after completing its current program for Aker BP at the Volund field in the Alvheim area.

This will be the first well on the recently awarded license, although five wildcat wells have been drilled previously in the area.
