SBM Offshore has signed a contract extension related to the lease and operation of FPSOs Mondo and Saxi Batuque with Esso Exploration Angola (Block 15) Ltd., as the Ooerator of Block 15, an affiliate of ExxonMobil.
Floating production storage and offloading units (FPSOs) are pivotal in offshore oil extraction, especially in remote and deepwater environments, leveraging digital twins, modular design and automation to improve efficiency, safety and sustainability.

SBM will now continue ownership and operation of the two FPSOs on Block 15 offshore Angola through 2032.
The agreement includes life-extension work covering equipment replacement and refurbishment to ensure safety and operational capabilities. This work is due to start in 2032.
Other partners in Block 15 are Azule Energy, Equinor and Sonangol E&P.
In June, SBM completed a deal to transfer its equity interest in the lease and operating entities of the FPSO Aseng, which works offshore Eqautorial Guinea, to state-owned GEPetrol.
