COPENHAGEN, DenmarkCadeler has ordered a third newbuild A-class wind farm installation vessel, Wind Apex, which will be the 11th jackup construction vessel in its fleet.

COSCO Heavy Industries in Qidong, China, will build the vessel to design standards that will allow it to sail under the Danish flag. It should be delivered during the first half of 2027.

Cadeler sees demand continuing for technologically advanced offshore wind farm installation vessels, partly due to the growing size and capacity of latest generation offshore wind turbines.

The company’s A-class vessels are designed to switch from foundation installations to wind turbine generator installations within a short period. Two others are currently under construction, along with two M-class vessels.
