ANTWERP, BelgiumEXMAR has taken delivery of what it claims is the world’s first barge-based floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) from the Wison Shipyard in Nantong, China.

The vessel has a re-gasification capacity of up to 600 MMcf/d and an LNG storage capacity of 26,000 cu m (918,181 cu ft).

EXMAR says this is the first of a new generation of barge-based, floating regas facilities that are best suited to fasttrack, flexible, mid-size LNG import projects globally.

The company adds that it has secured long-term employment for the vessel with the hire due to start from mid-2018 onwards.
