MUTTRAH, Oman -- Doha Marine Services (DMS), a subsidiary of Renaissance Services, has won a five-year support vessel contract from Maersk Oil Qatar valued at $ 48 million, including five one-year options.

The Topaz Shaheen will serve as a standby support vessel for Maersk in the Al Shaheen field off Qatar.

DMS’ parent company Renaissance Services says the vessel has been working for Maersk for some time, providing services including anchor handling and personnel transfer, as well as acting as a safety standby vessel for rescue operations and firefighting.

Currently, the Topaz Shaheen is undergoing an upgrade which will allow it to undertake dynamic positioning operations and oil spill recovery. It will also be able to provide ROV and survey support operations.
