Siemens Energy has awarded SeaRenergy a multi-year contract to provide offshore infrastructure services for at least 13 converter platforms for offshore wind projects in northwest Europe.
Nine are in the German Bight, with TenneT’s BorWin5 the first to be supported under the contract, followed by four in the UK North Sea.
SeaRenergy’s workscope covers integrated offshore/onshore logistics and support services, which will be conducted throughout the platforms’ commissioning phase, and include the provision of a platform supply vessel (PSV).
SeaRenergy will oversee main safety and operational tasks, including managing vessel operations and material transfers. It will handle logistics and warehousing operations out of Hamburg and Emden, north Germany.
The company’s Cargo Run Service, using the PSV Spirit of Emden (owned by Asian Spirit Steamship Co), will undertake regular offshore supply visits to the platforms in the German Bight and UK North Sea.
It will also offer spare capacity to other offshore wind projects under construction or in operation.
Also covered in the contract is the provision of extra vessels including construction support, emergency rescue and guard vessels.
SeaRenergy will start supporting BorWin5 for TenneT in 2025, followed by other projects for TenneT, Amprion, RWE and 50Hertz over the following years.
BorWin5, the fourth project TenneT is implementing off the coast of Borkum, will feature extra-high-voltage direct current transmission technology.
