Optional drilling work exercised by Dana Petroleum

Norwegian offshore drilling firm Island Drilling reported that Dana Petroleum has exercised its option to extend the Island Innovator drilling rig’s assignment in the UK.

BERGEN, Norway — Island Drilling Co. reported that the optional work with Dana Petroleum (E&P) Ltd. has been exercised.

The total work is estimated to be 110 days. The work is scheduled to commence in April 2023.

The option prolongs an initial 80-day, three-well contract for the 2012-built harsh-environment semisubmersible Island Innovator drilling rig signed in October 2022. The exercised option adds 30 days and an additional well to the program.

The total contract is said to be worth an estimated $30 million.
