STAVANGER, Norway  Prosafe increased its total order backlog for its offshore accommodation/support rigs to $300 million during the first half of this year.

The company now has six of its seven vessels on contract for all or parts of the year, and it expects further increases in the future based on active tendering activity.

In the North Sea, visibility of contract opportunities beyond 2022 remains low, although this is in line with typical contracting patterns in the sector where contracts tend to materialize six to 12 months prior to commencement.

But favorable tax incentives should lead to increased activity in Norway, especially from 2024 onward.

Prosafe foresees more contract opportunities emerging offshore Brazil.

The company added that it may consider other business development opportunities within energy sector niches and other ocean industries.
