STAVANGER, Norway – Prosafe’s accommodation support rig Safe Concordia has departed Curaçao and is heading to the US Gulf of Mexico for an upcoming contract, due to start between Aug. 5 and Aug. 10.

The company estimates total mobilization/capex costs at about $30 million.

As for other rigs in the fleet, Safe Caledonia is laid up at Scapa Flow in northern Scotland pending future work, while Safe Boreas is laid up in Norway with the same status. The first right of refusal previously communicated for use of Safe Boreas from third-quarter 2023 to first-quarter 2024 has expired, so the rig is available for current and future tenders in Brazil and the North Sea.

Tender activity continues to increase in Brazil where Petrobras has issued three separate four-year tenders. More tenders look set to follow from Petrobras and other operators in the region with contracts likely starting from second-quarter 2024.

The situation is less positive in the North Sea at present, although Prosafe has noted growing enquiries from potential clients for 2024 and for 2025.
