Velesto adds offline features to Malaysian jackups

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — Velesto Energy has completed the offline capabilities upgrades for the NAGA 5 and NAGA 6 jackups.

According to the company, these are the first Malaysian jackups equipped with such capabilities, designed to suit clients’ requirements and increase their appeal during contract bidding.

The offline features mean that the total time spent on wells will be reduced as the two rigs can now perform multiple activities while drilling. And with fewer rig days per well, this should reduce overall drilling project costs for clients and lower the sector’s emission footprint, Velesto added.

NAGA 5 started operations for PTTEP HK Offshore last month, while NAGA 6 should begin a program for Petronas Carigali toward the end of August.
