ABERDEEN, UK – Decommissioning specialist Well-Safe Solutions has awarded two contracts for the conversion of the semisubmersible drilling rig Well-Safe Guardian into a dedicated P&A unit.

Global Energy Group will provide quayside services for the refurbishment during the rig’s yard stay at the company’s Nigg Energy Park facility in northeast Scotland.

Services will include provision of fully encapsulated scaffold access, blasting and paintwork and the supply of rope access personnel, mobile cranes, plant and labor, workboats and onsite facilities.

Rigfit7seas will upgrade the accommodation.

Well-Safe acquired the rig earlier this summer. As part of the upgrade, it will install a dive system and the capability to deploy a subsea intervention lubricator.

The company, which launched in August 2017, has staff with experience of more than 500 wells.
