Offshore staff
MELBOURNE -- Subsea 7 has completed the VIC/P44 Stage 2 subsea development of the Henry project off southeast Australia for Santos.
Santos awarded the contract last August, which involved tying back the Henry and Netherby fields in 56-72 m (184-236 ft) of water to the producing Casino field in the Otway basin offshore Victoria.
Operations started in December. The program involved installing a 21.7-km (13.5-mi) long, 12-in. (30.5-cm) rigid pipeline to connect the subsea production trees at the Henry-2 and Netherby locations; installation of four rigid spool pieces; and laying of a 22-km (13.7-mi) electro-hydraulic umbilical from Casion-4 to Pecten East.
The rigid reeled pipelay vessel Seven Navica was mobilized in late November from Singapore to the company’s spool base in Crib Point, Victoria. After collecting its consignment, it installed the rigid pipe and tow in-line tee skids during two separate trips.
The vessel was supported by the DSV Rockwater 2, which laid four sections of umbilical, electrical and hydraulic flying leads; three pipeline end manifolds; associated subsea infrastructure; and 650 stabilization mattresses to complete the tie-ins and free-span rectification.
Umbilicals ranged in lengths from 3.3-6.5 km (2-4 mi), and were installed using an in-line tensioner and a reel-drive system. In total, Rockwater 2's 300-metric ton (330-ton) active heave compensated crane performed over 2,000 lifts for the project.
