CNOOC orders subsea equipment for Lufeng

Technip’s new flexible pipe manufacturing plant in Malaysia has won its first offshore order, for CNOOC’s Lufeng 13-1/13-2 oil field in the South China Sea.

PARIS -- Technip’s new flexible pipe manufacturing plant in Malaysia has won its first offshore order, for CNOOC’s Lufeng 13-1/13-2 oil field in the South China Sea.

The engineering/supply scope, to be managed by Technip’s operating centre in Kuala Lumpur, comprises a 6-in. (15.2-cm) riser, a mid-water arch, and a 6-in. flowline. Manufacturing of the pipes will start this fall after the completion of factory qualification trials. Deliveries are scheduled for February 2011.

The 20-ha Asiaflex Products plant has been built in Malaysia’s Tanjung Langsat industrial complex. It will have capacity to produce annually 200 km (124 mi) of flexible flowlines, risers, and umbilicals.

Facilities include a 130-m (426-ft) long quay and a 300-metric ton (330-ton) crane.
