Offshore Africa: BW Energy Gabon takes hold of Adolo FPSO, Subsea7 inks T&I work

May 22, 2025
BW Energy Gabon will handle the operations and maintenance for the FPSO BW Adolo, and Subsea7 has been awarded a new subsea contract offshore West Africa.

BW Offshore and BW Energy have transferred operations and maintenance (O&M) of the FPSO BW Adolo to BW Energy Gabon.

Under an amended bareboat charter, BW Offshore’s subsidiary retains ownership of the vessel, which it will continue to lease to BW Energy Gabon on the same terms as previously agreed, but minus the O&M services.

“Assuming full O&M responsibility will allow BW Energy Gabon to optimize field performance and capture additional synergies across the Dussafu hub,” said Carl K. Arnet, CEO of BW Energy.

The FPSO has been producing oil on the offshore Dussafu Marin license since 2018.

Nearby, Subsea7 has a new contract in West Africa to transport and install flexible pipelines, umbilicals and associated subsea components for connection to an FPSO.

In addition, the company will perform pre-lay activities for a forthcoming drilling campaign.

Project management and engineering work will be shared between Subsea7’s offices in Sutton, near London, and Suresnes, France. Offshore activity should begin next year.

Subsea7 said the contract is worth between $50 million and $150 million.
