REDRUTH, UK – Severn Glocon Technologies has supplied a high integrity pressure protection system (HIPPS) to DSME for a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) under construction in South Korea.

The FSRUMagna has a capacity of 173,400 cm (6.12 MMcf). Severn’s team integrated and installed the HIPPS to protect the pipeline during unloading of gas and the FSRU and downstream equipment in the docking terminals it connects with.

Although HIPPS are not mandatory on FSRUs, the company claims they provide improved safety and reliability. They are positioned between high-pressure upstream and low-pressure downstream units, containing media should over-pressurization occur, rather than venting.

The system supplied to DSME operates at 117 barg and comprises two 18-in. 900-class manual valves, a Sella Controls logic solver, and three pressure transmitters.

Parent companySevern Glocon previously serviced the Ichthys and Gorgon LNG projects offshore Western Australia.
