Ocean Installer to lay North Sea umbilical for Talisman

ABERDEEN, UK – Talisman Sinopec Energy UK has contracted Ocean Installer for subsea work in the UK central North Sea.

Ocean Installer will use the chartered light construction support vesselNormand Mermaid to install a new 11.5-km (7.1-mi) umbilical between the Arbroath platform and a subsea manifold on the Arkwright field.

Scope includes pre-lay engineering and route verification, monitoring and testing of the installation, crossing engineering, placement of protection mattresses, and burial of the umbilical.

Engineering and project management will be performed from Ocean Installer’s Aberdeen, UK, office.

Arkwright has two production wells tied into the Arkwright subsea manifold southeast of the Arbroath production platform in UK block 22/17. The platform is in a water depth of 92.7 m (304 ft).
