HOUSTON Expro has completed a P&A program at the Chinguetti field offshore Mauritania for Petronas subsidiary PCMPL.

The company deployed its integrated open water intervention riser system (OWIRS) for intervention and barrier placement on 15 wells.

The system was able to retrieve the subsea trees without the need for an additional run, supported by the parallel deployment of the OWIRS and the BOP from the auxiliary well and primary well center, using the rig’s dual-derrick capabilities.

Expro’s onshore project management team locally and in Kuala Lumpur supported PCMPL through the project planning and execution phases. Services provided included the subsea well access system, surface flowhead, umbilicals, topsides control equipment and installation, and an intervention workover control system package for controlling both the OWIRS and xmas tree equipment.

Worldwide Oilfield Machine worked with the company under an alliance arrangement, providing the subsea well access system and technical support.

Graham Cheyne, Expro’s vice president of Well Access and Subsea, said the OWIRS performed over 250 functions during the project with 100% operational uptime and no non-productive time.

Expro also conducted gas testing work on completion of the 15 wells.
