LUXEMBOURGSubsea 7 has installed a subsea pipeline bundle for CNOOC International’s latest development of the Buzzard field in the UK central North Sea.

The equipment is ready to connect the new northern area wells to the platform.

In 2018, Subsea 7 was awarded the contract for project management, EPCI of the bundle, and associated well and platform tie-ins.

The technology combines all subsea production, water injection and gas lift flowlines, as well as control functions and end manifolds, in a single integrated system, which is tested onshore prior to installation.

In this case, the BPII package also incorporates a 36-m (118-ft) long, 300-metric ton (330-ton) drill center manifold which allows for up to 12 wells to be tied-in.

Subsea 7 fabricated and launched the complete 5,500-metric ton (6,063-ton) system from its Wester construction site near Wick, northern Scotland, towing the equipment 150 km (93 mi) to the field location using a mid-depth tow method.

The project is coming together under an alliance model. Last month Allseas installed the new topsides module, in co-operation with Subsea 7, CNOOC, and Worley.
