YATELEY, UK – DOF Subsea has equipped three more of its Brazilian offshore vessels with hybrid acoustic and inertial navigation technology from Sonardyne Brasil.

Sonardyne’s SPRINT-Nav all-in-one subsea navigation instruments are now supporting five ROVs supplied by Forum Energy Technologies onboard the three vessels.

SPRINT-Nav, which combines Sonardyne’s SPRINT sensor, Syrinx 600 kHz DVL (Doppler velocity log) with an intelligent pressure sensor in a single housing, is claimed to be one of the smallest combined acoustic-inertial navigation instruments available, for use in subsea inertial navigation and positioning.

DOF Subsea now has six ROVs fitted with the technology, supporting construction, inspection, maintenance, and repair work in Brazil’s deepwater presalt oil fields.
