Seadrill, Velesto awarded jackup drilling contracts in the US Gulf, Malaysia
Seadrill expects its deepwater semisubmersible Sevan Louisiana to start a 25-day program for Kosmos Energy in the US Gulf this month.
The rig will then mobilize for a 60-day contract for LLOG.
Other new drillship awards cited in Seadrill’s latest results statement include a firm 880-day term for the West Carina offshore Indonesia, valued at around $420 million, for an undisclosed client. Operations should start in the first half of next year.
Offshore Malaysia, the client for the West Capella has taken up potions to extend current operations by 120 days, and unpriced options for a further 120 days.
West Capella now appears to be fully booked through February 2028.
In Angola, Sonadrill – Seadrill’s joint venture with an affiliate of Sonangol – has secured a three-year extension of current operations for the Sonangol Libongos, keeping the rig committed into 2030.
Malaysian contractor Velesto Drilling has secured a contract from Petronas Carigali for one firm well and one optional well for the jackup NAGA 3. Operations have just begun.
The NAGA 3 is an independent-leg cantilever jackup designed for drilling to depths of 30,000 ft, and to operate in water depths of up to 350 ft.
