BERGEN, Norway — Equinor has exercised options with Odfjell Drilling for seven wells to extend its use of the semisub Deepsea Aberdeen on the Breidablikk Field development in the Norwegian North Sea.
The options should take effect in mid-first-quarter 2025 in direct continuation of the current firm period, with an estimated value of about $138 million.
In addition, the contract includes further optional periods that could keep Deepsea Aberdeen contracted to Equinor through 2029, comprising six optional wells followed by three further optional periods of eight wells each.
In all cases, rates for optional periods are to be mutually agreed prior to exercising.
