COSCO to transport Vito FPU to the Gulf of Mexico

Shell has commissioned COSCO Shipping Specialized Carriers to transport the Vito floating production unit to the Gulf of Mexico.

GUANGZHOU, ChinaShell has commissioned COSCO Shipping Specialized Carriers to transport the Vito floating production unit (FPU) to the Gulf of Mexico.

The integrated Vito semisubmersible FPU will be fabricated in Singapore and then transported to the Gulf of Mexico onboardCOSCO’s M/VXin Guang Hua.

The Vito contract is the third project to be awarded to COSCO Shipping since the establishment of an enterprise frame agreement between the two companies in 2014.

In addition, Shell has contracted GATE Energy to commission the Vito FPU. The associated scope includes commissioning planning, onshore commissioning execution and offshore commissioning/ready-for-startup services.

The Vito development is owned byShell Offshore Inc. (63.11%, operator) and Statoil USA E&P Inc. (36.89%).
