SCHIEDAM, the Netherlands  Havfram has contracted Huisman to supply a 3,000-metric ton-plus Leg Encircling Crane (LEC) for installation on a wind turbine installation vessel.

The fully electric crane will feature a 155-m boom with a lifting height of about 180 m above deck, with the design adapted to Havfram’s turbine and foundation installation requirements. Huisman’s factory in Zhangzhou, China, will manufacture the crane.

According to the company, the fully electrically driven system leads to efficient energy use and reduced maintenance. The slew bearing system supports reliable and accurate positioning of the crane, while the boom’s lightweight and stiff design limits motions at the crane tip.

Finally, the small tail swing enables optimized use of free deck space.

With this contract, Huisman secured its 13th LEC order since the start of 2021.
