MONACOExxonMobil has awarded SBM Offshore front-end engineering and design (FEED) contracts for an FPSO for the deepwater Yellowtail development in the Stabroek block offshore Guyana.

Following the FEED and subject to approvals by Guyana’s government for the development plan and a final investment decision, SBM Offshore will construct, install, and subsequently lease the FPSO, operating it for a period of up to two years, with first oil slated for 2025.

The company will allocate its sixth newbuild, multi-purpose hull for the project combined with various standardized topsides modules under its Fast4Ward program.

Yellowtail’s FPSO will be designed to produce 250,000 b/d of oil, with gas treatment capacity of 450 MMcf/d, water injection of up to 300,000 b/d, and 2-MMbbl crude storage capacity. The vessel will be spread moored in 1,800 m (5,905 ft) of water.

SBM has formed a special purpose company with McDermott for executing the turnkey phase of the project. This will draw on the partners’ combined engineering and fabrication capabilities and experience in providing EPC services to the energy industry, with SBM holding 70% equity and McDermott 30%.
