CASTROPOL, Spain – Gondan Shipyard in Figueras, northern Spain, has launched a new commissioning service operation vessel built for Norwegian shipowner Edda Wind.

The Edda Breeze, with a length of 88.3 m (290 ft) and a beam of 19.7 m (64.6 ft), was designed by Salt Ship Design, and is prepared for the installation of zero-emission hydrogen technology for the propulsion systems, thanks to funding from Norwegian government enterprise Enova SF.

With accommodation for 93 technicians and 27 crew members, the vessel will support the charterer Ocean Breeze at Germany’s Bard Offshore 1 wind farm.

Features will include a 3D motion-compensated crane and a motion-compensated gangway with a maximum range of 28 m (92 ft) for personnel transfer, and an integrated elevator with capacity for up to 26 persons.
