CASTROPOL, Spain  Edda Wind has ordered a sixth commissioning service operation vessel for offshore wind projects from Gondan Shipbuilders.

The vessel, a Salt 0474 design, will be an enhanced development of the Salt 0217 design and is due to be delivered in 2025. Edda Wind has an option with Gondan for a further vessel.

The 89.3-m-long ship will be prepared for installment of zero-emission technology, with support from Enova. It will house wind turbine technicians performing commissioning and maintenance work on offshore wind turbines, with cabins for up to 97 technicians and 23 marine crew.

Anti-heeling and roll reduction systems will provide good working conditions on board, Edda Wind said, while the motion-compensated gangway system should ensure safe connections to the turbines, even in harsh weather conditions.

Following delivery, Edda Wind will have a fleet of 10 purpose-built vessels, six of which are contracted to clients such as Ørsted, Vestas, Ocean Breeze, SSE and Siemens Gamesa.
