LEIDEN, the Netherlands – Heerema Marine Contractors’ newest semisubmersible crane vessel Sleipnir is due to arrive in the Port of Rotterdam for the first time this weekend.

Sembcorp Marine finished construction of the vessel, named after the Norse God Odin's eight-legged stallion, last July.

Thereafter Sleipnir completed a 15,300-metric ton (16,865-ton) lift, thought to represent a new world record, for the topsides installation for Noble Energy’s Leviathan platform in the Mediterranean Sea offshore Israel.

From there, the vessel sailed across the Atlantic to install Equinor’s new Peregrino C platform in the Campos basin offshore Brazil, followed by further installations offshore Trinidad.

Next up for the vessel is decommissioning work across the North Sea. The Sleipnir is due to depart Rotterdam at the end of March for the first of several jobs.
