    Archer in talks on long-term modular rig assignment

    HAMILTON, Bermuda – Archer has a letter of intent (LOI) with a North Sea operator for use of its modular drilling rig Archer Topaz.

    The LOI carries a firm 27-month period with options to extend by a further seven months.

    Final contract award remains subject to a successful front-end engineering design study for deploying the Topaz on the client’s platform. Assuming final client board approval by the end of February 2020, operations should start in mid-2021.

    The Topaz is contracted to work for Equinor on the Heimdal platform in the Norwegian Sea next year.
