Maersk drillship heading to Myanmar

POSCO International Corp. has awarded the Maersk Drilling drillship Maersk Viking a three-well contract offshore Myanmar.

COPENHAGEN, Denmark POSCO International Corp. has awarded the Maersk Drilling drillship Maersk Viking a three-well contract offshore Myanmar.

The contract is expected to begin at the end of the year, with an estimated duration of 154 days. The value of the firm contract is $33 million, including a mobilization fee. It includes a one-well option.

Delivered in 2013, the Maersk Viking is a seventh-generation, high-spec ultra-deepwater drillship.

In August, the drillship completed its latest campaign offshore Ghana, which included a well drilled in a water depth of 10,125 ft (3,086 m).
