Offshore staff
LYNGBY, Denmark — Shell has taken up an option to extend its contract for the ultradeepwater Maersk Voyager drillship for work offshore Mexico.
The rig is mobilizing for a drilling program for Shell off Suriname. The six-month firm extension should take effect next April, in direct continuation of this activity.
Maersk Drilling estimates the value of the extension at about $77 million, excluding integrated services and potential performance bonuses. And following amendments, the contract now carries options for up to 18 months of additional drilling work.
The two companies will also implement the RigFlow solution, developed by Maersk Drilling subsidiary Horizon56, for the campaign offshore Mexico. This standardizes and digitalizes the core workflows involved in well construction, including real-time exchange of information between onshore planning units, offshore drilling teams and supporting service companies.
