STAVANGER, NorwayEquinor UK has exercised a fourth one-month option which will extend use of Prosafe’s accommodation rig Safe Boreas at the Mariner complex in the UK northern North Sea.

Production started yesterday, but the rig will still be needed to support personnel working on the Mariner platform during the hook up and early production phase through October 2019.

Total value of the current extension is around $5 million.

In the Norwegian sector, the Petroleum Safety Authority has approved Equinor’s request to extend use of the Island Wellserver drilling facility for light well intervention, and a new operation using a coil hose.

The activity is due to last from September 2019 until end-March 2020.
