ASTURIAS, Spain — The joint venture Navantia Seanergies-Windar Renovables has carried the load out of the first monopiles manufactured at the new plant in Fene.
They will be transported to Scotland, where Ocean Winds' Moray West offshore wind farm is located. This wind farm will have an installed capacity of 882 MW.
This is the first monopiles project executed by Navantia Seanergies-Windar Renovables in Fene.
Fourteen 2,000-tn giants for an offshore wind farm will supply 1.33 million homes with clean energy, Windar Renovables said.
In April, the Moray West offshore wind farm project in the UK North Sea was able to move forward after securing £2 billion ($2.48 billion) of non-recourse project finance. Ocean Winds, a joint venture between EDP Renewables and ENGIE, is the main owner, with Ignitis Group as minority shareholder.
Elsewhere, Spain-based Windar Renovables inked an agreement with Iberdrola earlier this month for the manufacture of 21 transition parts for the Windanker offshore wind farm in German waters. This is the sixth project of this type of foundation to date.
